Position Overview: The Scottish Funding Council is in search of a skilled Corporate Governance Specialist to uphold the exemplary standards expected within the public sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Governance Officer and Deputy Director of Governance and Planning to provide a thorough and professional corporate governance and secretariat service to the SFC Board and its committees.
  • Ensure effective support for SFC Board members through comprehensive administrative and logistical assistance.
  • Facilitate the provision of high-quality, confidential support services to SFC's statutory committees, including the management of agendas, timely preparation of committee documents, proficient minute-taking, and follow-up on action items from meetings.
  • Assist in the establishment, coordination, and ongoing enhancement of various corporate governance processes and systems to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications:

An accomplished corporate governance professional, you should possess experience in managing a dynamic governance and secretariat function, bringing a proactive approach to committee engagement.


Skills Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of governance principles with a demonstrated proactive working style, effectively anticipating and managing strategic issues.
  • Strong influencing capabilities and the ability to provide expert governance advice and support to the senior team and Board.
  • Flexibility to navigate across the responsibilities of the corporate governance team, providing support as needed to meet deadlines.


Strategic Insight: A solid understanding of the strategic context in which the Scottish Funding Council operates will be crucial for success in this role.
