Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the ophthalmology department for a dedicated NMC Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This role involves the formulation, execution, and assessment of care pathways within the ophthalmology service, operating independently.

While primarily based in the outpatient ophthalmology unit, there may be occasions where travel to various clinics is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of services across all departmental settings. You will be expected to participate in training and competency evaluations to enhance your capabilities in supporting medical personnel. Accountability will be to the senior nursing staff within the department.

Some of the anticipated duties include:

  • Conducting visual field assessments
  • Performing OCT imaging
  • Administering vision evaluations
  • Assisting in medical interventions
  • Carrying out basic observations

Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability are essential, as the workload may fluctuate. An empathetic disposition is crucial, and prior experience in ophthalmology is advantageous.

Job Responsibilities

Upon successful completion of your pre-employment checks, you will be contacted to arrange your start date, which will align with our corporate induction schedule.

Following your corporate induction, attendance at the Trust's comprehensive two-week induction program for nursing and allied health professionals is mandatory. This program is full-time and may involve travel to multiple Trust locations. It encompasses supernumerary shifts in clinical settings, classroom instruction, and e-learning modules.

Please be aware that appointment to this position is contingent upon a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

Qualifications

Essential:
