Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Occupational Health department, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to the Occupational Health team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our staff.
  • Represent the department at Trust and other agency forums, deputising for the OH Nurse Consultant/HR Business Development Manager as required.
  • Actively participate in and support Directorate initiatives and issues, using your clinical expertise to provide specialist advice and support to peer group staff, clients, and service managers.
  • Provide professional leadership, advice, and guidance to nursing and non-nursing staff, fostering collaborative partnerships with other disciplines.
  • Lead in the development of clinical standards, ensuring these are set, embedded, and monitored in accordance with the needs of the service.
  • Monitor agreed quality improvement metrics to support compliance with local and external practice standards, NHS Plus, cold chain monitoring, etc.
  • Support the OH Nurse Consultant/HR Business Development Manager in ensuring that workload is prioritised and managed effectively.
  • Participate in audit and research programmes appropriate to the advancement of the service, as required.
  • Identify and minimise clinical and non-clinical risk issues, reporting to the senior team and implementing action plans to address areas which fall below acceptable standards.
  • Ensure accurate and legible client records are kept in line with professional and legal requirements, paper and electronic.
  • Promote and maintain effective working relationships and communications with Consultants, medical staff, nurse colleagues, and other multi-agency professionals.

  • Registered General Nurse
  • On-going professional development
  • Good knowledge of clinical governance
  • Quality Improvement tools and audit
  • Risk management Issues
  • Significant post-registration experience in a variety of primary and secondary care clinical settings
  • Significant experience at Band 6 or above in more than one area of practice
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Venepuncture, cannulation
  • Communication skills
  • Immunisation and vaccination
