Salary: £27,000 per annum plus excellent benefits
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday
The Fresh Produce Quality and Stock Controller plays a crucial role within the Product Team, focusing on the quality assessment of incoming deliveries of fruits and vegetables. This position involves breaking down bulk wholesale shipments and preparing orders for distribution. Additionally, responsibilities include stock management through effective rotation and utilizing software such as Sage for invoicing, inter-siting, and stock receipting, along with some ordering tasks. While training will be provided, a basic proficiency in IT is essential.
As fresh produce is vital to our operations, every item received or dispatched must meet our high-quality standards. We seek an individual who can work independently and efficiently, possessing a sharp attention to detail.
This role is both physical and diverse, requiring the maintenance of a clean and organized refrigeration area while minimizing waste. Collaborating with the Fresh Produce Buyer, you will be an advocate for our fresh produce offerings.
The Newt is home to a state-of-the-art Hydroponic Glasshouse and a Mushroom House, along with expansive fields dedicated to vegetable cultivation, a produce processing area, and a dedicated team focused on growing fresh produce. This is an exciting opportunity to join our fresh produce team as we establish a new Greengrocer Department to serve our estate and clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality inspections on all incoming orders, ensuring the highest standards are upheld for every piece of fresh produce utilized.
- Pick and pack orders for retail and hospitality venues, including dividing large orders into appropriate packaging and assembling Veg Boxes.
- Ensure all vegetables are properly packaged in punnets and labeled with barcodes for retail.
- Maintain accurate stock records, including ordering, invoicing, inter-siting, and receipting in collaboration with the Fresh Produce Buyer.
- Work within the large fruits and vegetables refrigeration area, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Continuously enhance packaging and delivery standards.
- Proactively work to reduce food waste through effective stock storage and rotation practices.
What We Offer:
- A supportive work environment with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Complimentary access to our gym and wellness classes to help you stay fit.
- Wellbeing support with free access to our Spa and swimming facilities, plus a 50% discount on Spa treatments.
- Enjoy a 30% discount at our estate shops and free delivery on online orders.
- Exclusive benefits including discounted hotel stays and a 30% discount at our restaurants.
- Engagement opportunities to voice your opinions and influence the future of the business through our Employee Engine Room.
- Complimentary garden membership for The Newt and partner gardens.
- Free meals during shifts, prepared using fresh produce from our estate.
- Recognition of your hard work through our colleague recognition program, with opportunities for various rewards.
- Support from our Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family.
- A fun team culture with regular engagement activities, including motivational speakers and social events.
- Up to 30 days of annual leave for full-time employees.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience in working with fresh produce is highly desirable.
- Operational warehouse experience is a plus.
- Organized, efficient, and detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
- A candidate who takes pride in their work and ownership of their responsibilities.
- No prior experience with Sage is necessary, but intermediate IT skills are beneficial.
- Basic ordering experience is desirable.
About The Product Team:
The Product Team oversees all aspects of product management across the estate, including retail operations in our shops and online, as well as products for hospitality, events, and wholesale. The team is involved in buying, merchandising, new product development, packaging, and procurement, collaborating with various internal departments to enhance the product offerings aligned with our vision.
