The Supplier Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and manufacturing processes of our high-performance vehicles. This position collaborates closely with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams, serving as a crucial contributor to successful vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee supplier quality activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to production and service phases.
  • Engage with and enhance supplier capabilities, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), ensuring timely delivery that meets cost and quality standards.
  • Manage quality manufacturing processes, ensuring that critical and significant characteristics are accurately identified and monitored by suppliers.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations at supplier locations as necessary to verify that outgoing components meet specifications.
  • Assist suppliers in achieving part approvals and communicate the status of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including reviewing and endorsing First Article Inspection (FAIR) reports prior to shipment.
  • Develop and maintain relevant Part Quality Plans (PQP), collaborating with engineers and suppliers to ensure comprehensive approval through design, manufacturing, verification, and validation stages.
  • Act as a center of excellence for root cause analysis and corrective actions regarding quality issues, utilizing 8D and SCAR methodologies to verify corrective actions at suppliers within agreed timelines.
  • Support and lead the engineering change management process, providing necessary approvals where applicable.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for suppliers, including Parts Per Million (PPM) metrics.
  • Manage supplier quality concerns through SCAR and 8D processes, ensuring timely resolution to facilitate uninterrupted production.
  • Conduct supplier approval and process audits to foster continuous improvement and assess supplier business management system capabilities against ISO 9001 and IATF16949 standards.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science, or a related numerical discipline.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in powertrain systems is advantageous; experience with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), transmissions, electric motors, batteries, and high-voltage electrical systems is highly valued.
  • Proven experience in an engineering or technology role within a relevant industry, demonstrating a strong track record of meeting the needs of both internal and external clients.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) or similar quality integration methodologies in project delivery processes, particularly for new model introductions.
  • Essential experience as an external auditor, ideally qualified in ISO 9001, IATF16949, or equivalent standards.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings effectively.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, with most suppliers located in the UK. The ideal candidate will be organized, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directed, and passionate about achieving objectives while comfortably challenging existing processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
