Role Overview

The Supplier Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in the development and production of our high-performance vehicles. This position involves close collaboration with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams, contributing significantly to the success of our vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee supplier quality activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to production and service.
  • Engage with and enhance supplier capabilities, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), ensuring timely delivery that meets cost and quality standards.
  • Manage quality assurance processes, ensuring that critical characteristics are identified and monitored by suppliers.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations at supplier facilities to verify that outgoing components meet specifications.
  • Assist suppliers in achieving part approvals and provide updates on the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including the review and endorsement of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) prior to shipment.
  • Develop and maintain Part Quality Plans (PQP) in collaboration with engineers and suppliers to ensure comprehensive approval through design, manufacturing, and validation stages.
  • Serve as a center of excellence for root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality issues, utilizing 8D and Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) methodologies.
  • Support and, when necessary, authorize changes in engineering processes.
  • Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance.
  • Manage supplier quality issues through SCAR and 8D processes within agreed timelines to ensure continuity of supply for production.
  • Conduct supplier approval and process audits to promote continuous improvement and assess compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in powertrain systems is advantageous; experience with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), transmissions, electric motors, batteries, and high-voltage electrical systems is highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in an engineering or technology role within a relevant industry, demonstrating a strong track record of fulfilling internal and external customer requirements.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) or similar quality integration processes in new model introductions.
  • External auditing experience is essential, preferably with qualifications in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent standards.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Strong organizational skills, persuasive communication, resourcefulness, flexibility, ambition, and a commitment to achieving objectives are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
