Role OverviewThe Supplier Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and production of our high-performance vehicles. This position involves collaboration with designers, engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams, serving as a key contributor to successful vehicle programs.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee supplier quality activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to production and service.
- Engage with and develop suppliers, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), ensuring timely delivery that meets cost and quality standards.
- Ensure quality manufacturing processes are in place, identifying and managing critical characteristics with suppliers.
- Conduct on-site evaluations at supplier locations to verify that outgoing parts meet specifications.
- Assist suppliers in achieving part approvals and communicate the status of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including reviewing and approving First Article Inspection (FAIR) prior to shipment.
- Develop and manage relevant Part Quality Plans (PQP) in collaboration with engineers and suppliers to ensure full approval through design, manufacturing, verification, and validation.
- Act as a center of excellence for root cause analysis and corrective actions related to quality issues, employing 8D and SCAR methodologies for timely resolution.
- Support and lead the engineering change management process as necessary.
- Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for suppliers, including Parts Per Million (PPM) metrics.
- Manage supplier quality concerns through SCAR and 8D processes within agreed timelines to ensure continuity of supply for production.
- Conduct supplier approval and process audits to promote continuous improvement and assess compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science, or a related numerical discipline.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes in powertrain systems is advantageous; experience with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), transmissions, electric motors, batteries, and high-voltage electrical systems is highly valued.
- Proven experience in an engineering or technology role within a relevant industry, demonstrating the ability to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
- Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) or similar quality integration processes in new model introductions.
- Essential experience as an external auditor, ideally qualified in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent standards.
- Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings effectively.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required. Strong organizational skills, persuasive communication, resourcefulness, flexibility, ambition, and a passion for achieving objectives are essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
