Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Gordon Murray Group. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating production processes to achieve Quality, Cost, and Delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing process plans to ensure efficient production and high-quality products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve production-related quality concerns and process cycle time issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and own resolutions to improve manufacturing processes and reduce downtime.
  • Design and implement process operating instructions and equipment specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the tooling and fixtures design engineer to produce jigs and fixtures to meet required specifications to support production build.
  • Provide engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure Quality, Cost, and Delivery targets are met.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology, and production processes.
Requirements
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
  • Strong, proven, and relevant automotive experience at an appropriate consultancy or OEM.
  • Experience of full product life-cycle activities and ability to achieve Quality, Cost, and Delivery targets for production.
  • Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem-solving) process improvement, and Poka Yoke (error-proofing) techniques.
  • Ability to create manufacturing process development plans and schedule own activities.
  • Experience in managing suppliers.
  • Able to use a variety of IT Packages (e.g., Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Smartsheets, PowerBI) at an advanced standard.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
