Position Overview

This role involves collaboration with the Colorectal cancer team, focusing on the management of patients and contributing to ongoing research initiatives. Key responsibilities include conducting two-week rule clinics, participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings, and coordinating with pre-habilitation services to prepare patients for surgical interventions. Additionally, maintaining patient databases and engaging in research activities are integral components of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct two clinics weekly.
  • Engage in research aimed at enhancing patient experiences and outcomes related to colorectal cancer.
  • Participate in clinical activities to uphold high standards of patient care.
  • Contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs.
  • Attend weekly multi-disciplinary meetings.

About the Organization

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is home to a dedicated team of colorectal surgeons providing specialized care for a range of benign and malignant colorectal conditions. The unit is particularly focused on inflammatory bowel disease surgeries, performing numerous resections annually. A robust robotic surgery program is in place, catering to patients with both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions. The Pelvic Floor Unit serves as a tertiary referral center, collaborating closely with urology and gynecology specialists. The colorectal unit also undertakes complex multivisceral resections for advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer in partnership with plastic and urological teams.

Position Requirements

This position is ideal for a medical professional seeking to deepen their understanding of colorectal cancer and the associated clinical pathways. Candidates should ideally have completed foundational or core surgical training.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Full GMC Registration.
