Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the direct clinical care of patients with Lipid Disorders and be able to contribute to the provision of specialist lipidology services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the ongoing clinical trial work, including recruiting to trials and securing future clinical trial work.
  • Lead a tertiary centre adult hypertension clinic.
  • Contribute to service development and work at the clinical interface.
  • Teach and train medical students, specialist registrars, and trainee clinical scientists.
Requirements
  • Full and specialist registration in Chemical Pathology with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview.
  • FRCPath in Chemical Pathology or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP or other higher specialist medical degree.
  • CCT in Chemical Pathology with Metabolic Medicine.
Desirable Qualities
  • Thorough and broad training and experience in Clinical Biochemistry.
  • Extensive experience in the direct care of patients with lipid disorders.
  • Experience and skills required to run a tertiary adult hypertension clinic.
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.
Key Skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Clinical Biochemistry, Lipidology, and Hypertension.
  • Ability to demonstrate skill in patient management in these areas of practice.
  • Broad range of IT skills.
Working Arrangements
  • Full-time position.
  • 10 sessions per week.
  • Permanent contract.
