Position Overview:

We are seeking qualified educators for a specialized Secondary School catering to students with diverse special needs.

This institution provides support to learners facing a variety of challenges, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) along with complex needs. The school adopts a holistic approach, collaborating closely with families and working as a cohesive team to empower all students with the confidence, skills, resilience, and aspirations necessary for fulfilling lives.

Location: Luton

Compensation: £110 - £160 per day

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm (Flexible hours can be discussed)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with students to address their individual learning requirements.
  • Implementing a tailored curriculum for mixed-age classes with varying abilities.
  • Assisting pupils with communication and interaction challenges, moderate learning difficulties, and other barriers to learning.
  • Identifying and addressing specific needs related to language comprehension, writing, organization, and other learning difficulties.
  • Adapting teaching methods to accommodate the diverse abilities and complexities of students across the curriculum.
  • Providing support for students with medical conditions or physical limitations.
  • Managing student behavior to maintain a constructive and positive learning environment.
  • Effectively de-escalating classroom situations while adhering to safeguarding protocols.
  • Collecting and returning student work appropriately.
  • Reporting safeguarding concerns following the school's established procedures.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a secondary SEN educator who possesses:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE.
  • Experience in a UK secondary school setting.
  • A background in working with children in special education environments with complex needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting students' educational journeys.
  • A proactive approach to professional development in a collaborative educational setting.
  • Initiative and a positive mindset towards overcoming challenges.
  • The ability to execute tasks set by the class teacher to a high standard.
