Position Overview:

We are seeking qualified educators for a specialized secondary institution dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs.

This institution caters to individuals with a variety of special requirements, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) alongside complex needs. The students exhibit a broad spectrum of learning challenges and may have overlapping profiles that include speech, language, and communication difficulties, therapeutic needs, and various health issues. The institution adopts a holistic approach, collaborating closely with families and working as a cohesive team to empower all learners with confidence, skills, resilience, and high aspirations for fulfilling lives.

Location: Luton

Salary: £110 - £160 per day

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm (Flexible hours can be considered)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with students to address their unique learning requirements.
  • Implementing a tailored curriculum for mixed-age classes with varying abilities.
  • Providing assistance to students facing communication and interaction challenges, moderate learning difficulties, and other barriers to their educational progress.
  • Addressing individual learning needs related to language comprehension, writing, organization, and other educational challenges.
  • Adapting teaching methods to accommodate the diverse abilities and complexities of students across various subjects.
  • Supporting students with medical conditions or physical limitations.
  • Managing student behavior to maintain a constructive and positive learning environment.
  • Effectively de-escalating classroom situations while adhering to safeguarding protocols.
  • Collecting and returning student work appropriately.
  • Reporting safeguarding concerns in accordance with the institution's policies.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a secondary SEN educator who possesses:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
  • Experience in a UK secondary educational setting.
  • A background in working with children in special educational environments with complex needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to enhancing students' educational experiences.
  • A readiness to engage in professional development within a collaborative educational atmosphere.
  • Proactive attitude and the ability to tackle challenges effectively.
  • Capability to deliver high-quality work as directed by the class teacher.
