Senior Underwriter Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines team at Lawes Consulting Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial risks and developing mutually beneficial relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a panel of south brokers as their nominated underwriter.
  • Support the profitable development of Mid-Market Commercial Combined & Real Estate accounts.
  • Prospect and contribute to the growth targets of the team, optimizing sales and retention.
  • Take ownership of large complex cases and work proactively with brokers to negotiate the right outcome.
  • Maintain an accurate audit trail using internal systems, practices, and procedures.
  • Underwrite within our client's strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
  • Maintain and endeavour to exceed agreed service levels, to both internal and external customers.
  • Be a strong referral point for your team, providing technical assistance and guidance to colleagues.
Requirements:
  • A confident decision maker with a strong and decisive approach to underwriting commercial risks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and influence through use of effective trading skills.
  • Willingly provides help and support to others and has the ability to work co-operatively.
  • Proactive, innovative and positive with the ability to take the lead.
  • Experience in underwriting and trading mid-market Commercial Combined products.
  • A detailed knowledge of the South West broker market.
  • Minimum Dip CII or progressing towards, is preferred.
