Job Title: Senior Underwriter
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines team at Lawes Consulting Group. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in underwriting commercial risks and developing mutually beneficial relationships with brokers and other internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with a panel of brokers as their nominated underwriter.
- Support the profitable development of Mid-Market Commercial Combined and Real Estate accounts.
- Prospect and contribute to the growth targets of the team, optimizing sales and retention.
- Take ownership of large complex cases and work proactively with brokers to negotiate the right outcome.
- Develop and support our clients' commercial lines accounts by engaging and encouraging relationships with regional brokers.
- Maintain accurate audit trails using internal systems, practices, and procedures.
- Underwrite within our client's strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
- Maintain and exceed agreed service levels to both internal and external customers.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to colleagues as a strong referral point for the team.
Requirements:
- A confident decision maker with a strong and decisive approach to underwriting commercial risks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate ability to negotiate and influence through effective trading skills.
- Willingly provide help and support to others and have the ability to work cooperatively.
- Proactive, innovative, and positive with the ability to take the lead.
- Experience in underwriting and trading Mid-Market Commercial Combined products.
- A detailed knowledge of the South West broker market.
- Minimum Dip CII or progressing towards, is preferred.
