About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Manager to join our dynamic team at Lidl. As a key member of our Customs department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the high quality and compliance of our customs activity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of specialists, including delegation and workload management
  • Train and coach members of the customs classification and audit team
  • Oversee the process of customs classification and audit team to ensure goods are imported and processed correctly according to trade regulations
  • Advise on customs classification procedures and post-clearance audits outcomes
  • Build import data reports and dashboards
  • Check, review, and analyze customs classification and audit data to identify trends, areas of concern, and improvement opportunities
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and advise on customs classification and audit-related issues
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the field of customs classification (e.g., HS codes, GIRs, import controls)
  • Detailed knowledge and experience working with customs import data, and post-clearance audits
  • Level 4+ Diploma in International Trade, or other applicable customs and trade certifications and diploma, preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the UK/EU customs legislation and import process and requirements. Excise knowledge desirable for the role
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to manage and develop a team
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze large data sets and build dashboards
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to use their own initiative
  • Highly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detail
  • Ability to accommodate last-minute requests with ease and efficiency
