Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Staff Psychology Service, providing support to staff working across the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital sites.

The Staff Psychology Service offers a range of evidence-based psychological interventions and support to staff, enabling them to manage the emotional impact of working in the NHS.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessment and formulation for teams and staff members.
  • Deliver a range of psychological interventions, including individual therapy, consultation, and debriefing.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and deliver bespoke interventions and resources.
  • Maintain an awareness of the impact of challenges on staff well-being and report concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provide specialist advice to other professionals.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Postgraduate doctoral level training in applied psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology.
  • HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral training in additional specialized areas of psychological practice.
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees.
  • Registration with BPS or UKCP.

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Evidence-based practice relevant to working with people with mild to moderate mental health problems or in an Acute Hospital setting.
  • Risk assessment and risk management.
  • Legislation related to the client group and mental health.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care.
  • Teaching, training, consultancy, and clinical supervision.

Skills

  • Adapting the evidence base for interventions relevant to NHS staff with significant and complex mental health difficulties.
  • Providing effective teaching, training, consultancy, and clinical supervision for teams.
  • Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertaking lead practitioner responsibilities.
