Your Role

Stockport Family is seeking a skilled Social Care Practitioner to join our dedicated After Hours (OOH) Team, working a shift pattern that extends beyond regular hours.

The OOH service is committed to delivering a prompt and effective response to urgent notifications that arise outside of standard business hours, identifying individuals—both children and adults—who are vulnerable and at risk of harm. You will be part of a well-established and highly skilled team of Social Workers, benefiting from the support of Team Managers and On Call Service Leads.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting statutory social work functions such as Section 47 investigations.
  • Making critical decisions regarding safeguarding adult investigations.
  • Facilitating the placement of children and adults in appropriate residential care.
  • Completing welfare visits and checks.

For your safety while working alone, you will be provided with a solo protection device, ensuring you can discreetly reach out for immediate assistance at any time.

About You

We are looking for a passionate social work professional who takes pride in their role and can think creatively under pressure to ensure the safety and well-being of children, families, and adults. You should be confident in using your professional judgment to apply a variety of interventions that balance safety with individual rights.

Current registration with Social Work England is essential, and you should be eager to engage in ongoing professional development, taking advantage of the numerous learning opportunities available. We value diversity and are committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
