Your Role
Stockport Family is seeking a dedicated Social Care Practitioner to join our After Hours (OOH) Team on a full-time basis, engaging in a shift pattern that extends beyond standard working hours.
The OOH service is designed to deliver a prompt and effective response to urgent notifications that arise outside of regular business hours, identifying individuals—both children and adults—who are vulnerable and at risk of harm. You will be part of a well-established and highly skilled team of Social Workers, benefitting from support from Team Managers and On Call Service Leads.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct statutory social work functions, including Section 47 investigations and safeguarding adult investigations.
- Make critical decisions regarding the placement of children and adults in residential care.
- Complete welfare visits and checks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals.
You will be equipped with a solo protect device, ensuring your personal security while working alone and allowing you to discreetly request immediate assistance whenever necessary.

We are looking for a passionate social work professional who takes pride in their practice and can reflect critically on their responses to urgent social work interventions. You should be adept at employing a variety of interventions that ensure safety while balancing rights and risks.
