Position Overview

Communication Support Specialist WTE Band 4 - Central London Community Health Trust

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Band 4 Communication Support Specialist to become a vital part of our dedicated team at Central London Community Health Trust.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with the Communication Therapy (CT) team, focusing on assisting children and adolescents with diverse and intricate needs, including developmental challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing strategies alongside Communication Therapists to enhance the language and communication abilities of children and young individuals.
  • Aiding educational institutions in establishing effective universal and targeted practices within their environments.
  • Assisting in the creation of therapeutic materials and supporting the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication Systems (AAC).

We seek an individual who demonstrates enthusiasm, possesses strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities, and has a genuine interest in working with school-aged children and youth facing complex challenges.

Job Duties

  • Gaining experience with a variety of interventions while working with children and young people with diverse needs.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proficient reading and writing skills in English.
  • NVQ Level III or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.

Desirable

  • Competence in keyboarding and computer skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in any paid or voluntary capacity within health, education, or social services, particularly involving families and children.

Desirable

  • Background in working with young children and families in community environments.
