We are currently seeking a Control Systems Maintenance Specialist to become a member of our team.

Role Overview:

In your capacity as our Control Systems Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of essential remote plant and process control systems, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of operational services.

Your responsibilities will include executing planned maintenance tasks and providing prompt responses to operational challenges, conducting onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of intricate issues.

To enhance and fortify operational processes, you will have the opportunity to identify and implement timely small-scale capital investment projects, adhering to established project and change governance.

The technology scope is extensive, encompassing sensors, instrumentation, plant networks, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), process control, and telemetry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting scheduled and proactive maintenance on operational instrumentation and control systems to enhance process compliance, reliability, and performance.
  • Responding promptly to operational issues, performing onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex challenges.
  • Participating in a 24/7 standby roster to provide out-of-hours reactive maintenance services.
  • Collaborating with various operational teams, including mechanical and electrical technicians, to prioritize tasks and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Utilizing industrial control, instrumentation, and technical expertise to offer recommendations for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager in identifying root causes of plant failures or suboptimal performance and taking ownership of resolutions.
  • Engaging with regional maintenance and standards engineers to provide technical details that drive compliance with Industrial Control System (ICS) standards and relevant legislation.
  • Executing firmware/software updates, patching, and rollouts in accordance with best practices for change, security, and release management.
  • Promoting a culture of health and safety to ensure all employees return home safely, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and a Science subject (or equivalent).
  • Relevant industrial control apprenticeship, qualifications, or training.
  • Experience with process control and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in working with PLCs, including management and programming, with an understanding of communication protocols.
  • Knowledge in the calibration and maintenance of frontline instrumentation.
  • Strong IT skills with a technical focus.
  • A valid UK driver's license and the ability to travel within the work area using a company vehicle.
  • Capability to successfully complete the UK Government Security Clearance process.
