In light of our recent successful expansion in the International arena, we are seeking an Associate - International Wastewater to enhance our Water Sector team (Location flexible).

This position is part of the Asset Planning & Solutions practice within the Infrastructure division of AtkinsRéalis. We are looking for a wastewater and network specialist who is passionate about project ownership, team leadership, and staff mentorship to drive successful project outcomes and bolster our stormwater drainage capabilities. The role entails some international travel, potentially working in overseas offices or client locations, with opportunities for short-term assignments. Key Responsibilities:

Our client services demand agility and forward-thinking. Below are examples of the responsibilities and qualifications we seek in a candidate, as part of our dynamic multidisciplinary utility consultancy and advisory team:
  • Oversee project delivery throughout international project lifecycles, including masterplans, strategic and feasibility studies, and support from front-end design to construction.
  • Drive business development through bid management, including proposal creation, fee estimation, scope definition, and quality responses to client tenders, adhering to Atkins' bid management protocols.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment across global teams, including regions such as the UK, Middle East, India, and the US, to ensure project success.
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, adhering to timelines and budgets, in compliance with AtkinsRéalis' business management frameworks.
  • Advise design teams on integrating sustainable wastewater infrastructure concepts into masterplans and feasibility studies, focusing on demand calculations, circular economy principles, alternative water reuse, and treatment needs.
  • Generate and assess conceptual designs, drawings, and reports to support sustainable integrated designs for masterplans and feasibility studies.
  • Lead the safe and quality design of technical solutions in line with relevant design standards and codes, aiming for a Net Zero Water framework.
  • Promote the use of digital initiatives and innovative solutions within the water sector.
  • Provide mentorship and management for team members, ranging from recent graduates to less experienced senior staff.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of the water environment and sustainability, with a commitment to addressing challenges in this sector.
  • A natural inclination towards developing innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for clients.
  • Extensive experience in project and bid leadership within the wastewater sector on a global scale, particularly in the UK and Middle East, with a respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in wastewater planning, large-scale masterplans, and sustainable urban development; international experience is a plus.
  • Membership in a recognized professional organization (e.g., ICE or CIWEM).
  • Solid technical background in wastewater at the strategic masterplanning level, including familiarity with relevant UK and international codes and standards for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrological modeling, GIS software, and industry-standard design tools.
  • Highly motivated and organized, with a strong commitment to promoting technical excellence within project teams and the broader AtkinsRéalis practice.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of working collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team, including clients and contractors.
  • Proven track record of innovation in the water sector, including digital advancements, circular water principles, low carbon solutions, and new materials.
  • Willingness to adapt to various work types and locations for project assignments, with readiness for short or long-term international travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver technically proficient projects on schedule and within budget.

Additional Information:

This role may necessitate security clearance, and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the appropriate level of clearance. If this is required, it will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of UK residency for a minimum of five years.
