Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Mass Communications and Journalism to join our faculty at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in public relations, social media, and other related areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students in the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism, with a focus on public relations and media studies.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with industry standards and best practices.
  • Engage in scholarly research and publication, with a focus on public relations and media studies.
  • Contribute to departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement departmental and university initiatives.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Mass Communications or a related field.
  • Teaching experience in public relations, journalism, or mass media courses.
  • Research experience in public relations or related topics.
  • Professional experience in public relations or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with distance learning and online education.
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Experience with scholarly research and publication.
