Position: Specialist Consultant in Emergency Surgical Care

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is dedicated to fostering innovation and embracing new methodologies. We invite you to become a part of our Emergency Surgical Care team, focusing on sub-specialties such as Colorectal, Paediatrics, or advanced interventional endoscopy. Our organization is committed to supporting the development of subspecialty interests, with funding provided through the National Forum for Acute Surgeons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with specialty leaders to define operational patterns and protocols for the department.
  • Innovate and implement models for ambulatory and alternative care.
  • Provide exceptional Emergency Surgical Care services.
  • Develop expertise in pediatric surgery, colorectal procedures, upper gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, or advanced endoscopic techniques.
  • Oversee departmental management and contribute to the research agenda.
  • Educate and mentor junior medical staff and students.
  • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
  • Offer patient coverage in the absence of fellow consultants.
  • Foster a culture of respect and collaboration within the team.
