Job Title: EGS Consultant - Surgical Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Specialist to join our Emergency General Surgery department at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality surgical services to our patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with specialty leads to establish effective working patterns and procedures for the department
  • Develop and implement innovative ambulatory and alternative provision models to improve patient care
  • Deliver exceptional Emergency General Surgery services, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction
  • Develop a specialty interest in children's surgery, colorectal, upper GI surgery, hepatobiliary, or complex endoscopic practice, contributing to the growth and development of our department
  • Manage the department, contributing to the research portfolio and driving continuous improvement
  • Teach and train junior staff and medical students, promoting knowledge sharing and expertise
  • Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) to stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques and best practices
  • Provide patient cover for absent consultants, ensuring seamless continuity of care
  • Promote a culture of respect, teamwork, and open communication within the department
