About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our team at DigiHaul, a leading digital freight business in the UK. As a key member of our data science team, you will play a critical role in driving our digital transformation and helping us revolutionize the transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of work for the data science team, providing guidance on best practices for data model architecture and development processes.
  • Lead a team of data scientists on end-to-end data science project delivery, encompassing problem identification, development of machine learning or analytical solutions, implementation, and roll-out, as well as deployment and maintenance.
  • Establish robust management processes for the data science team to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and efficacy of data models.
  • Collaborate with data analytics and data engineering teams to drive data initiatives and delivery roadmaps.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure business value delivery and effectively communicate sophisticated data science concepts through simple and clear visualization.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in applying advanced analytics or data science skills at scale.
  • MSc or PhD-level education in STEM subjects such as computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python or R, as well as experience with SQL queries.
  • Solid understanding of modern machine learning techniques and their mathematical underpinnings, translating them into actionable business insights.
  • Proven track record in project management skills, ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
  • Prior commercial exposure to Microsoft Azure.
  • Previous experience in leading a growing data science team in a scale-up company.
  • Proven ability to drive initiatives and deliver commercial impact within the transportation industry.
