Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled individual with strong leadership capabilities and at least two years of experience in critical care, acute care, or emergency settings at band 6 or 7. This role is part of our esteemed Critical Care Outreach and Resuscitation Service (CCOARS). Working alongside the Outreach Consultant, this practitioner-led service offers specialized care to critically ill and deteriorating patients while providing support to ward teams and the broader multidisciplinary team (MDT). The team also implements a comprehensive resuscitation training program, contributing to audits, quality enhancement, and patient safety initiatives across the organization.

As a CCOARS practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering patient care across various clinical environments, assessing, formulating, and executing management plans, and collaborating with the MDT to treat patients effectively. A solid understanding of managing patients with tracheostomy tubes and Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) is essential.

This position includes a significant educational component, involving the delivery of resuscitation training, tracheostomy care, NIV, and the ALERT course to all levels of Trust staff. Therefore, exceptional teaching and assessment skills are crucial. You will also be expected to respond to emergency calls as a specialized member of the Resuscitation team.

Strong interpersonal skills are vital, along with a solid clinical background and a professional qualification in Critical Care or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver a Critical Care Outreach and Resuscitation service in collaboration with Critical Care Consultants and the Trust Resuscitation lead.

- Ensure high-quality specialist care for all patients diagnosed with critical illnesses.

- Prevent unnecessary admissions to Critical Care through timely recognition and intervention, or ensure prompt admissions when necessary.

- Support the ongoing recovery of patients discharged from Critical Care on the wards.

- Serve as a resource for other professionals regarding Critical Care and related treatments and issues.

- Provide a comprehensive resuscitation training program to ensure all Trust staff meet mandatory training standards.

- Actively promote and develop the service through teaching and supervision, and contribute to the creation of policies, guidelines, audits, and research to enhance service delivery.
