Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled individual with strong leadership capabilities and at least two years of experience in critical care, acute care, or emergency services at band 6 or 7, to become a part of our esteemed Critical Care Outreach and Resuscitation Service (CCOARS). This practitioner-led service collaborates with the Outreach Consultant to provide exceptional care to critically ill and deteriorating patients while supporting ward teams and the broader multidisciplinary team (MDT). The team also implements a comprehensive resuscitation training program, contributing to audits, quality enhancement, and patient safety initiatives across the organization.
As a CCOARS specialist, you will be responsible for delivering patient care across various clinical environments, evaluating, formulating, and executing management plans, and treating patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. A solid understanding of managing patients with tracheostomy tubes and Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) is essential.
This role incorporates a significant educational component, including the delivery of resuscitation training, tracheostomy care, NIV, and the ALERT course to all levels of Trust staff, necessitating excellent teaching and assessment abilities. You will also be required to respond to emergency calls as a key member of the Resuscitation team.
Possessing outstanding interpersonal skills is crucial, along with a strong clinical background and a relevant professional qualification in Critical Care or an equivalent field.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a Critical Care Outreach and Resuscitation service in partnership with Critical Care Consultants and the Trust Resuscitation lead.
- Ensure high-quality specialist care for all patients diagnosed with critical illnesses.
- Prevent unnecessary admissions to Critical Care through timely recognition and intervention, or ensure prompt admissions when necessary.
- Facilitate the discharge process from Critical Care by supporting the ongoing recovery of patients on the wards.
- Serve as a resource for other professionals regarding Critical Care and related treatments and issues.
- Provide a comprehensive resuscitation training program to ensure all Trust staff meet mandatory training standards.
- Actively promote and develop the service through teaching and supervision, and contribute to the creation of policies, guidelines, audits, and research to enhance service delivery.
