This role is part of our esteemed Critical Care Outreach and Resuscitation Service (CCOARS). Collaborating closely with the Outreach Consultant, this practitioner-led service is designed to provide expert care to critically ill and deteriorating patients while supporting ward teams and the broader multidisciplinary team (MDT). The team also conducts a comprehensive resuscitation training program, contributing to audits, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives throughout the Trust.

As a CCOARS specialist, you will be responsible for delivering patient care across various clinical environments, assessing, developing, and implementing management plans, and treating patients in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. Therefore, exceptional teaching and assessment skills are crucial. You will also be expected to respond to emergency calls as a key member of the Resuscitation team.

Possessing excellent interpersonal skills is vital, along with a strong clinical background and a professional qualification in Critical Care or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure high-quality specialist care for all patients diagnosed with critical illnesses.

- Prevent unnecessary admissions to Critical Care through timely recognition and intervention, or ensure timely admissions when necessary.

- Support the ongoing recovery of discharged patients on wards to facilitate their discharge from Critical Care.

- Serve as a resource for other professionals regarding Critical Care and related treatments and issues.

- Conduct a resuscitation training program to ensure all Trust staff meet mandatory training requirements.

- Actively promote and develop the service through teaching and supervision, and contribute to the development of policies, guidelines, audits, and research initiatives.
