Job Responsibilities

The Regulatory Information and Intelligence Team is tasked with gathering, organizing, and analyzing data to create and distribute resources that inform and support regulatory decision-making across all levels.

We are in search of a leader in regulatory information and intelligence who can enhance the diversity and breadth of our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to play a crucial role in a team focused on consumer safety.

As one of two G7 Managers in the team, you will oversee the Management Information and Reporting initiatives. Your responsibilities will include managing the creation of intelligence products that aid in the development of operational, tactical, and strategic regulatory information and intelligence. You will also be responsible for generating data reports using established analytical methods and data analysis techniques. A key aspect of this role will involve engaging with stakeholders and fostering strong working relationships both internally and externally with other regulatory bodies across the UK.

Our work spans a wide range of areas, requiring you to quickly grasp the varying needs of customers and the specific hazards and risks associated with each area of activity, ensuring that intelligence products are customized to meet the diverse requirements of the Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a confident, visible, and collaborative leader, fostering processes within the Department and the team to cultivate an intelligence and evidence-driven culture while maintaining connections with the broader intelligence, data, and regulatory community.
  • Utilize structured analytical techniques to support regulatory risk-based decisions and address policy inquiries.
  • Lead the analysis and dissemination of quantitative data within the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the team and within the Department's Analysis division to ensure the robustness of analytical work.
  • Become the team's expert in using data visualization tools to present data effectively and assist team members in creating and maintaining dashboards.
  • Ensure quality assurance for all intelligence products and data reports generated by team members.
  • Engage with intelligence and data partners to ensure access to and analysis of all relevant data sources for accurate analysis.
  • Lead the development of high-profile and complex information and intelligence products that fulfill customer needs.
  • Enhance the capabilities of the regulatory information and intelligence team through coaching and professional development.
  • Oversee the development of the Product Safety Database, building relationships to understand user needs and collaborating with teams to implement necessary actions.
  • Provide reactive support for Major Incidents across the Department.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in managing operational activities and producing intelligence assessments and reports.
  • Experience with dashboards and data visualization tools; training will be provided for specific tools used within the Department.
  • Strong skills in quantitative data manipulation and analysis using software such as Microsoft Excel, including the ability to perform calculations on large datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information succinctly to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a successful and motivated team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to cultivate and manage professional relationships across organizational boundaries to achieve desired outcomes.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience leading teams in intelligence or analytical domains.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
