About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Science Advisor to join our team at the Department for Business and Trade. As a key member of our Science Team, you will play a crucial role in providing access to robust and relevant scientific advice and novel research for the development of policy, and the delivery and enforcement of product safety regulations across our remit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support relationships within our department, other government departments, industry, and academia to ensure that science and evidence outputs are as robust as possible.
  • Commission and manage research projects via our Research Collaboration Network.
  • Lead on the Register of Specialists governance as part of our Research Hub activities and own the Register of Specialists for Paediatrics and Child Health and development of a Biology Register of Specialists.
  • Input to our science capabilities workstream, which includes engaging with our Chief Scientific Adviser's Office, a Science and Engineering incident preparedness and coordination role, and a secretariat function for our external Expert Panel in incidents.
Requirements
  • A degree in a scientific field related to biology or chemistry as essential.
  • Scopes, plans, and manages multifaceted projects.
