As a Housing Manager, you will be expected to possess:

  • Proven experience in team leadership.
  • Strong communication abilities and a knack for fostering effective relationships with residents, colleagues, elected officials, and various partners.
  • A keen eye for identifying service enhancements and nurturing a culture of quality and performance improvement.
  • A genuine passion for enabling older adults to live independently, coupled with the capability to instigate and drive change.
  • The initiative to address operational challenges and deliver a high-quality service to our clientele.

About the Role

This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of the Retirement LIFE service within Housing Leeds Older People's Service. Our service plays a vital role in assisting residents to maintain their independence in over 4000 Retirement LIFE properties, providing housing-related support, encouraging social engagement, and ensuring a secure environment for our customers.

As the next Housing Manager, you will be essential in overseeing large, dispersed teams throughout the city, ensuring effective service delivery through your exceptional leadership and communication skills.

You will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, a proactive attitude, and the ability to juggle competing priorities and workloads. Adaptability and responsiveness to evolving needs are crucial, along with a proven history of collaborative teamwork with a strong customer focus.

You will cultivate robust relationships, collaborating with teams across Housing Leeds to effectively manage scheme and operational matters, while also establishing connections with internal and external partners to enhance service delivery and customer engagement.

You will contribute to the citywide Age Friendly Strategy, aimed at making Leeds the Best City to Grow Old in.

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage an efficient, customer-focused housing management service, maximizing performance and pursuing continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of housing management services within designated geographical areas or Neighbourhood Service sectors.
  • Contribute to the management and delivery of partnership initiatives on behalf of housing services across the city.
  • Develop staff to meet key council priorities and enhance customer offerings.
  • Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders, including customers and partner organizations.
  • Implement a people-oriented, solutions-focused approach to customer interactions.
  • Oversee budget management, risk assessment, and related audit activities.
  • Contribute to and execute service improvement plans.
  • Implement performance management frameworks to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Review and enhance policies and strategies in line with current legislation and best practices.
  • Maximize opportunities for local service delivery improvements through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Exhibit a high degree of self-motivation, commitment, and effective time management.
  • Drive cultural change to deliver focused and continuously improving services.
  • Ensure customer involvement in service planning and feedback processes.
  • Participate in corporate projects and initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level and Post Grade / Professional Membership or equivalent experience in housing management.
