Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estates Officer to join our team at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of Capital & Property Services in the production and maintenance of estate records, as well as the delivery of the Trust's capital programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the production and maintenance of estate records, including fire survey and statutory estate condition records.
  • Support the delivery of the Trust's capital programme, ensuring quality facilities are delivered within budget and current financial constraints.
  • Work with project stakeholders to deliver capital projects from feasibility through to timely completion.
  • Ensure capital projects are completed to high standards using best sustainable practices and achieving value for money.
  • Provide expert advice on aspects of projects affecting the Trust's ability to achieve its clinical needs.
  • Work with the Estates team to ensure projects are delivered compliant with legislation and regulations.
  • Support the development of policies and strategies for the implementation of capital projects.
  • Manage financial expenditure of programmes and projects, ensuring regular reports are available to the Head of Capital & Property Services.
  • Procure consultants, contractors, and services necessary to deliver capital projects.
  • Contribute to risk management processes and maintain a comprehensive project risk register.
  • Manage complex information and analyze and interpret data to generate options for the delivery of an affordable and deliverable capital programme.
  • Develop good working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals, including clinicians, senior managers, patients, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead working groups and external advisors in the preparation of output specifications, operational policies, and design briefs.
  • Chair and facilitate capital technical meetings to ensure technical advisers develop appropriate and affordable design and capital costs.
  • Support the development of a Post Project Evaluation strategy to review capital projects and ensure continuous quality improvements in the built environment.
