About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Ward Manager within our Forensic Mental Health Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day delivery of forensic mental health ward services within the designated team area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage resources and staff employed by both SWYPFT and integrated partners with agreed permissions framework.
  • Exercise leadership by personal example, demonstrating respect, openness, and reliability, and foster these characteristics within the team.
  • Implement and manage changes to internal systems to a reasonable conclusion.
  • Analyse problems and identify and implement strategies that will resolve them.
  • Write evidence-based reports that support higher-level decision making.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with the following skills and experience:

  • Advanced knowledge and proven ability in current mental health practice and national policy and guidance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster good working relationships and understanding in others.
  • Able to travel around the Trust as appropriate to the role.
  • Self-motivated, able to set own priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Works actively as part of own team and the wider health and social care management team.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven ability of post-basic clinical practice.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience.
  • Highly skilled at assessing and managing people with forensic mental health needs.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of skill in supporting/mentoring/supervising staff and students/trainees.
