Wakefield Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Forensic Social Worker to join our specialized mental health team within a regional secure hospital setting.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive support and care to individuals with complex mental health needs within a forensic context.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans for service users.
  • Collaborate effectively with other professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and legal representatives, to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and support to individuals and their families, utilizing recovery models and psycho-social approaches.
  • Navigate complex systems and formulate care pathways in partnership with various agencies and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Care Act, ensuring ethical and best practice standards are upheld.
  • Demonstrate expertise in safeguarding adults, including risk assessment, intervention strategies, and care plan development.
Your Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with:

  • A recognized social work qualification and current registration with the Social Work England (SWE).
  • Proven experience in social work practice within mental health, forensic services, or related fields.
  • Exceptional teamwork, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, networking, and negotiation abilities.
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures.
