CBRE Global Workplace Solutions Data Centre Solutions (DCS) is a premier provider of essential Data Centre maintenance and support services within the built environment, collaborating with some of the most recognized organizations across the UK and Europe. We are currently seeking a pivotal Data Centre Operations Manager to oversee a new client within a bustling campus in the Slough region.

CBRE is dedicated to maintaining the main UK Data Centre, ensuring the delivery of a reliable and effective critical engineering maintenance service. The primary responsibility is to guarantee 100% uptime of engineering services, thereby ensuring no disruption to the client's business operations.

Main Purpose

The role involves providing direction and leadership to CBRE Technicians and Contractors, ensuring the effective management of the maintenance of facilities, machinery, and equipment within the Data Centre. The selected candidate will serve as the primary contact for all activities occurring within the data centre they oversee, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the engineering, contractual, and compliance standards associated with a hyperscale data centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Foster and manage client relationships, ensuring a high standard of service, and attending client meetings as necessary.
  • Oversee the Health and Safety protocols for Engineers, contractors, and visitors on-site.
  • Collaborate closely with the Contract Support Team to maintain consistently high service levels.
  • Ensure effective communication and implementation of business policies and processes within the contract.
  • Guarantee compliance with legislative, client, and CBRE health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Provide effective solutions for development, training, and performance management.
  • Offer technical support across a broad range of services to both the CBRE team and the client.
  • Ensure service line KPIs are met and reported monthly.
  • Provide leadership to ensure contractual commitments are fulfilled and exceeded.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with agreed SLAs.
  • Prepare data for monthly Operational Reviews.
  • Encourage continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide solutions and associated quotations for minor project works.
  • Identify potential business opportunities within the Data Centre.
  • Take ownership of engineering activities within the Data Centre.
  • Ensure planned maintenance regimes are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate statutory and CBRE required logs.
  • Oversee PPM planning schedules for sites.
  • Manage disciplinary and conflict resolution processes.
  • Promote health and safety and foster a strong team culture.
  • Participate in the escalation chain for unforeseen incidents and site issues, providing technical support and leadership as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Technical Manager, in line with experience and competencies.
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables
  • Achieve 100% statutory compliance across all relevant service lines.
  • Work closely with Contract Support & Engineering Supervisor to eliminate service delivery gaps.
  • Manage service line tracker documents to ensure timely and cost-effective closure of actions.
  • Ensure no statutory compliance PPMs are missed due to CBRE planning.
  • Generate monthly reports in accordance with contract governance scorecard requirements.
  • Manage the CMMS system effectively.
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of Engineers, contractors, and visitors on-site.
  • Facilitate the prompt and efficient procurement of materials and services, with full ownership of P&L, Debt, and WIP.
  • Ensure Engineers have the necessary onboarding, tools, and PPE.
  • Implement appropriate contract review, audit, and control systems to meet statutory, policy, and contractual commitments.
  • Conduct internal audits of QHSE, Compliance, and Technical Literature.
  • Ensure QHSE bulletins, safety talks, and updates are delivered and implemented effectively.
  • Accountable for auditing logbooks for the site.
  • Lead cultural change daily by modeling safe working practices, compliance, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute positively to the team effort with a proactive attitude and a commitment to raising standards.
Selection Criteria
  • Strong background in Data Centre Engineering is essential.
  • Financial experience is preferred.
  • Compliance experience is required.
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus, team spirit, and alignment with Company RISE values.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and professional with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • A career reflecting strong personal development is preferred.
  • Management/Supervisory experience is essential.
  • Experience in delivering broader facilities management alongside engineering (Soft Services) is preferred.
  • Essential knowledge and planning of critical works.
  • Engineering qualification in a relevant subject (M&E) is essential.
