We are currently seeking a Data Centre Operations Manager to oversee a significant client within a bustling campus environment.

CBRE is dedicated to maintaining the operational integrity of major UK Data Centres, ensuring an efficient and effective engineering maintenance service. The primary goal is to guarantee 100% uptime of engineering services, thereby preventing any disruption to the client's business activities.

Main Purpose

The role involves providing strategic direction and leadership to CBRE Technicians and Contractors, focusing on the effective management of maintenance operations for the facilities, machinery, and equipment within the Data Centre. The selected candidate will serve as the primary contact for all activities within the data centre, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of engineering, contractual, and compliance obligations inherent to a hyperscale data centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Foster and manage client relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery and participating in client meetings as necessary.
  • Oversee the Health and Safety protocols for Engineers, contractors, and visitors on-site.
  • Collaborate closely with the Contract Support Team to maintain high service levels consistently.
  • Ensure effective communication and implementation of business policies and processes within the contract.
  • Guarantee compliance with all legislative, client, and CBRE health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Deliver effective solutions for development, training, and performance management.
  • Provide technical support across a broad range of services to both the CBRE team and the client.
  • Ensure service line KPIs are achieved and reported monthly.
  • Lead the team to meet and exceed contractual commitments.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with agreed SLAs.
  • Prepare data for monthly Operational Reviews.
  • Encourage continuous improvement within the team.
  • Offer solutions and quotations for minor project works.
  • Identify potential business opportunities within the Data Centre.
  • Oversee engineering activities within the Data Centre.
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are planned and executed effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date statutory and CBRE logs.
  • Supervise PPM planning schedules for the sites.
  • Manage disciplinary and conflict resolution processes.
  • Promote health and safety standards and foster a strong team culture.
  • Participate in the escalation process for unforeseen incidents and site issues, providing technical support and leadership as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Technical Manager, based on experience and competencies.
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables
  • Achieve 100% statutory compliance across all relevant service lines.
  • Work in tandem with the Contract Support & Engineering Supervisor to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Manage service line tracker documents to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of actions.
  • Ensure no statutory compliance PPMs are overlooked due to CBRE planning.
  • Generate monthly reports in accordance with contract governance scorecard requirements.
  • Manage the CMMS system effectively.
  • Oversee the Health and Safety of Engineers, contractors, and visitors on-site.
  • Ensure efficient procurement of materials and services, with full ownership of P&L, debt, and WIP.
  • Ensure Engineers have the necessary onboarding, tools, and PPE.
  • Implement appropriate contract review, audit, and control systems to meet statutory, policy, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct internal audits of QHSE, compliance, and technical literature.
  • Ensure QHSE bulletins, safety talks, and updates are delivered and implemented.
  • Accountable for auditing site logbooks.
  • Lead cultural change daily by modeling safe working practices, compliance, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute positively to the team effort with a proactive attitude and commitment to raising standards.
Selection Criteria
  • Strong background in Data Centre Engineering is essential.
  • Financial experience is preferred.
  • Compliance experience is required.
  • Demonstrated customer focus, promoting team spirit and morale, aligned with the Company RISE values.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and professional with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
  • A career trajectory showing strong personal development is preferred.
  • Management or supervisory experience is essential.
  • Experience in delivering broader facilities management alongside engineering (Soft Services) is preferred.
  • Essential knowledge and planning experience in Critical Works.
  • Engineering qualification in a relevant field (M&E) is essential.
