Consultant in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care
The Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
This role is primarily focused on providing anaesthetic support to adult patients undergoing various cardiothoracic surgical procedures, interventional cardiology, radiology, and bronchoscopy interventions. There may also be opportunities for involvement in pre-assessment clinic sessions.
The Critical Care responsibilities include delivering comprehensive care for patients across all clinical specialties within the hospital's critical care units.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver clinical services in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, adhering to both clinical and legal standards while aligning with the Trust's international role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical services in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, ensuring compliance with clinical and legal standards.
- Participate in the adult anaesthesia and critical care on-call rotas, following appropriate orientation and based on prior experience.
- Engage in Clinical Governance, Audit, and Quality Improvement initiatives within the Anaesthesia and Critical Care departments.
- Maintain and enhance professional qualifications and competencies.
- Stay updated with current practices in Anaesthesia and Perioperative medicine, participating in ongoing medical education and professional development.
- Uphold high professional standards in all aspects of work.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Basic training in transoesophageal echocardiography.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) or equivalent.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Anaesthesia/Critical Care or eligibility within six months of the interview.
- A minimum of 12 months of experience in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
Desirable
- Experience in transoesophageal echocardiography.
- Higher academic qualifications (MD, PhD, or equivalent).
