Position Overview

We are looking for a Junior Underwriting Associate to support the underwriting and management of various classes of insurance including Property, Casualty, Inland Marine, Commercial Auto, and Homeowners. This role involves collaboration with a network of Managing General Agents (MGAs) to ensure effective risk assessment and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and underwrite renewal accounts promptly and effectively.
  • Provide assistance to Underwriters in exploring new business ventures.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of terms, specifications, actuarial data, and pricing for both new and existing accounts.
  • Review monthly Bordereau reports, identifying risks that fall outside of contract stipulations and collaborating with MGAs for resolution.
  • Analyze portfolio data, including pricing and terms, across all Binding Authorities, utilizing all available data sources within the organization.
  • Propose and implement improvements to streamline underwriting workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal protocols.
  • Prepare underwriting reports as necessary.
  • Assist in managing risks, including compliance with regulatory obligations for delegated authorities.
  • Generate monthly reports on premium income and other relevant metrics.
  • Collaborate with underwriting support teams for seamless operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of insurance and underwriting practices within the Lloyd's marketplace.
  • Solid knowledge of Property, Auto, and Liability Delegated Authority classes.
  • Familiarity with policy wordings, slips, and binding authorities is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in IT, especially with Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience in data mining, statistical modeling, and data visualization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
