Position Overview

This is a part-time role requiring commitment over three days each week:

  • Tuesday: 07:45 - 13:45
  • Thursday: 07:45 - 13:00 and 13:45 - 19:00
  • Friday: 07:45 - 13:45

Total weekly hours will be outlined in the employment contract.

Role Responsibilities

The position involves comprehensive patient administrative support and serves as the initial point of contact for individuals reaching out to the practice. We seek a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team, assisting with, but not limited to:

  • Scheduling both telephonic and in-person appointments
  • Directing patients to the suitable healthcare professional
  • Overseeing patient-related tasks
  • Engaging with external services
  • Documenting and managing incoming and outgoing communications
  • Handling incoming correspondence
  • Registering new patients
  • Processing medication requests

Key Duties

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong telephone communication skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced team setting
  • Adaptability to changing workflows
  • Proficiency in computer usage; training on clinical systems will be provided.

About Vine House Health Centre

Our team comprises four GP partners, an advanced nurse practitioner, a practice nurse, two healthcare assistants, a phlebotomist, and a skilled group of administrative staff and care coordinators. We collaborate with North Watford Primary Care Network, which includes pharmacists, first contact physiotherapists, a paramedic, and social prescribers, all working in unison to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A solid educational background, including English and mathematics equivalent to GCSE grade C or above
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a reception role, preferably within a primary care setting
  • Good keyboard skills and the ability to manage a telephone system
  • Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
  • Capability to prioritize workload and adapt to various tasks
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to the practice and its patients.

Work Environment

The post-holder will contribute to a supportive and collaborative work atmosphere, ensuring that all patients and visitors receive a warm and professional reception service. The role requires the ability to work independently while also being an integral part of a dedicated team.
