Editorial Production Manager

Role Overview
In the capacity of Editorial Production Manager, you will oversee a dedicated team responsible for the content production of educational resources tailored for English Language Teaching (ELT) products. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all content is delivered punctually, within budget, and adheres to established quality standards. You will collaborate closely with the central Content Delivery management team within Publishing and Content Operations to effectively coordinate, plan, and assure the quality of the production editorial teams and outsourcing partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team comprising Production Editors, Packaging Services Editors, and Editorial Corrections Coordinators.
- Guarantee that editorial quality standards are consistently met by both the team and our external suppliers.
- Strategically plan resources and allocate workloads efficiently.
- Monitor the progress of all projects managed by your team.
- Collaborate with the Outsourced Services team to manage supplier relationships and develop budgets.
- Ensure effective implementation of processes and workflows.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing through training and comprehensive guidelines for the team and our editorial suppliers.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in managing production editorial tasks within educational publishing, including copyediting and proofreading.
- Proven experience in managing freelancers and suppliers in the production editorial domain for both print and digital formats.
- Experience in reviewing, enhancing, and implementing operational processes.
- Demonstrated capability to manage teams through coaching and mentoring (line management experience is preferred).
- Strong technical proficiency in editorial tools, including advanced MS Word style sheets, PDF markup, and authoring tools for interactive content.
- Experience in line management.
- Familiarity with content structures and XML standards.
- Knowledge of the ELT market.
- Working knowledge of additional languages relevant to the ELT sector.
- Background in publishing or a related industry in a relevant capacity.
- Experience in a matrix organizational structure.
