Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cancer Pathway Optimization Manager to join our dedicated Cancer Performance department. Reporting directly to the Cancer Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless coordination of cancer patient pathways, optimizing treatment processes, and driving adherence to national cancer targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cancer care pathways within our trust.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, nurses, administrators, and support staff, to streamline patient journeys and minimize delays in treatment.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cancer waiting times, treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
  • Identify areas for improvement within existing processes and implement evidence-based solutions to enhance service delivery.
  • Stay abreast of current best practices and national guidelines in cancer care, ensuring our services remain at the forefront of innovation.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the performance of cancer pathways and progress towards key objectives.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing cancer waiting times and optimizing patient pathways within an NHS setting.
  • In-depth understanding of national cancer targets and guidelines, including the Cancer Reform Strategy document.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using relevant healthcare information systems and patient administration software.
