Position Overview

The Principal Strategy and Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission to safeguard and enhance the environment, ensuring accountability among government and public authorities.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity to spearhead critical initiatives that are fundamental to the Office for Environmental Protection's (OEP) operational success. You will collaborate closely with our Board and Executive Committee on significant strategic matters.

We seek an individual capable of contextual analysis and insightful evaluation of strategic and performance-related issues. The ideal candidate will excel in building trusted relationships across all organizational levels, effectively communicating with senior decision-makers, and constructively challenging leadership based on evidence and insights.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior member of the Business Strategy and Planning team, you will be integral to the OEP's strategic alignment and operational effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading efforts to assess and enhance our strategic management information, ensuring that the Executive Committee and Board are equipped with accurate and actionable insights.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of our program management approach, including change controls and performance monitoring.
  • Facilitating the prioritization of our work program to maximize resource efficiency and value.
  • Managing our risk framework, supporting the Executive Committee and Board in strategic risk management.
  • Designing and executing evaluation projects to measure our impact and assisting in interpreting the findings.
  • Reporting performance metrics to stakeholders, including government entities and the public.

Organizational Planning

You will play a crucial role in our organizational business and resource planning, ensuring that our initiatives align with our strategic objectives:

  • Collaborating with the Executive Committee and Board to formulate our organizational business plan.
  • Assisting in resource allocation within governmental planning frameworks.
  • Developing the OEP's corporate plan for public dissemination.

Team Leadership

Leading a small project management team, you will ensure effective project management practices are embedded throughout the OEP, enabling the successful delivery of our initiatives.

Strategic Development

Support the Head of Business Strategy and Planning in shaping and executing the OEP's corporate strategy:

  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and review of the OEP's strategic framework.
  • Leading targeted projects to address key strategic challenges.
  • Promoting a clear understanding of the OEP strategy among colleagues and stakeholders.

The Business Strategy and Planning team's work is vital to the OEP's mission of environmental protection and improvement. The role requires agility and flexibility to adapt to changing organizational priorities.
