About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Operations Manager to join our team at Capita. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and cost-effective delivery of contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Assist the sales team in securing profitable and deliverable new business, providing commercial support in deal shaping, negotiations, and contracting.
  • Risk Management: Identify, manage, and report on key commercial and legal risks, communicating with the Legal function as necessary.
  • Contract Administration: Ensure all customer and supplier bids/contracts are approved and reviewed in line with deal approval governance and policy prior to submission/signature.
  • Contract Review and Interpretation: Review, interpret, and advise on existing contract rights and obligations.
  • Change Management: Lead change management of contracts, including the production of BAU contract variations.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Support the production of regular contract reporting and ensure contract records are maintained and accessible as directed.
  • Meeting Minutes and Administration: Record, ratify, and circulate commercial/negotiation meeting minutes when required, and support the ongoing administration of contracts.
  • Sub-Contractor Relationship Management: Support sub-contractor relationship management and due diligence activities.
  • Client-Specific Management: Work as part of client-specific management teams, managing a pipeline of activity, and contributing to client-specific strategy, review, and performance.
Requirements
  • Desirable Experience: 2+ years' contracts experience and a demonstrable track record of owning and delivering pre- and post-contract activity.
  • Contract Knowledge: Good understanding of bid preparation and submission processes (ITT, RFP, BAFO), and strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial Acumen: Good basic financial acumen (P&L, cashflow, balance sheet) and understanding of financial modeling, contract pricing, and differing pricing models.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to produce reports and summaries clearly articulating key matters for a senior and/or non-commercial audience.
  • Education and Qualifications: Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent achieved through demonstrably successful experience.
