Position Overview

As an Underwriting Support Specialist, you will report to our Senior Underwriter and assist our Managed Underwriting team. You will collaborate with a team of thirteen professionals, providing essential support to Underwriters in managing Binding Authority agreements. This role operates on a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the performance of the portfolio and individual agreements, assisting with the underwriting of new and renewal risks submitted for special acceptance.
  • Aid in the evaluation of portfolio performance and the management of new agreements and amendments to existing ones. Maintain databases and documentation related to the underwriting process.
  • Support Underwriters during the annual planning process.
  • Assist Underwriters in gathering information, drafting findings and recommendations, and following up on these recommendations to ensure completion.
  • Regularly produce, distribute, and analyze statistical reports.
  • Extract and manipulate data from B&C systems to aid Underwriters in reviewing and analyzing the portfolio and individual Binding Authority agreements.
  • Provide supplementary information to assist in the underwriting of agreements and individual risks.
  • Manage diaries and prepare for meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all documentation is ready prior to meetings and that notes and action points are distributed and followed up on.

  • Familiarity with Delegated Authority business.
  • Exposure to Property business.

This position is offered on a permanent basis, with an annual salary commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Benefits include 25 days of annual leave (excluding bank holidays), which increases with length of service.
