We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our Leaving Care Service in Belfast. This role offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young care leavers as they transition towards independence.

About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering young people aged 16-21 to develop essential life skills and achieve their aspirations. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide personalized support, guidance, and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with care leavers based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Assist young people in developing independent living skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and household management.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to help young people navigate challenges and setbacks.
  • Collaborate with social workers, educators, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Document progress and maintain accurate records of interactions and interventions.
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrable experience working with young people aged 16-21, particularly those in care.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges faced by care experienced young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality support and advocacy.
  • Registration with (or willingness to register with) Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
