Legal Counsel Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Nissan. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our business divisions, ensuring that our commercial activities are conducted in a compliant and risk-managed manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support to our business divisions on a wide range of commercial matters, including contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
  • Manage a high-volume workload, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, business leaders, and external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations, providing expert guidance and advice to the business.
  • Contribute to the development of new policies and procedures, ensuring that they are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior members of the legal team, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK, with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in a regional, national, or international commercial law firm and/or in an in-house legal team.
  • Minimum of a 2:1 in a bachelor's degree, with good accompanying academic records prior to this.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate complex commercial contracts.
  • Confidence to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage a high workload, with the resilience to work under pressure in a fast-changing commercial environment.
  • Ability to balance customer expectations and commercial demands against any legal and regulatory risks.
  • Open and transparent approach, able to work in an international environment with exposure to diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Solid aptitude for leadership and management, accompanied by good project management and conflict skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with ability in other languages welcomed.
