About the Role

Nissan Motor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team. As a key member of the team, you will provide expert legal advice to various business divisions, ensuring that the company's commercial activities are conducted in a compliant and risk-managed manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a broad range of legal advice to internal clients, including commercial contracts, supply agreements, and regulatory matters.
  • Manage a wide-ranging workload, including specialist projects and daily transactional work.
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team and stakeholders from business divisions and senior management to advise on commercial contracts.
  • Assist with the management of external legal advisors and control external spend.
  • Support the achievement of department objectives and supervise junior members in their work.
  • Develop new templates and internal procedures, and provide legal training to the organization.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK, with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in a regional, national or international commercial law firm and/or in an in-house legal team.
  • Minimum of a 2:1 in a bachelor's degree, with good accompanying academic records prior to this.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills that equip you to negotiate a range of commercial contracts.
  • Confidence to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage a high workload, with resilience to work under pressure in a fast-changing commercial environment.
  • Ability to balance customer expectations and commercial demands against any legal and regulatory risks.
  • Open and transparent approach, able to work in an international environment with exposure to diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Solid aptitude for leadership and management, accompanied by good project management and conflict skills.
  • IT skills in standard Microsoft office packages.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with ability in other languages welcomed.
