About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Nissan Motor. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and support to our business divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support to internal clients on a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply of goods and services, engineering and construction, logistics, and outsourcing agreements.
  • Manage a diverse workload, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, as well as advising on regulatory matters and litigation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external lawyers on specialist areas, such as energy, environmental, financial regulations, data protection, intellectual property, cyber security, and GDPR.
  • Support the achievement of department objectives and supervise junior members in their work.
  • Develop new templates and internal procedures, and provide legal training to the organization as needed.
  • Manage the legal budget and external legal advisors, controlling external spend.
Requirements
  • A qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK, with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in a regional, national, or international commercial law firm and/or in an in-house legal team.
  • A minimum of a 2:1 in a bachelor's degree, with good accompanying academic records prior to this.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate a range of commercial contracts.
  • The confidence to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage a high workload, with the resilience to work under pressure in a fast-changing commercial environment.
  • The mindset to take on a widely varied role, where you will thrive in continuously learning and absorbing new information.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with the ability in other languages welcomed.
