We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Nissan. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our business divisions, ensuring that our commercial activities are conducted in a compliant and risk-managed manner.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and support to our business divisions on a wide range of commercial matters, including contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
- Manage a diverse workload, including advising on supplier arrangements, capex-related queries, and other commercial contracts.
- Collaborate with internal and external lawyers on specialist areas, such as energy, environmental, financial regulations, data protection, intellectual property, cyber security, and GDPR.
- Support the achievement of department objectives and supervise junior members in their work.
- Develop new templates and internal procedures, and provide legal training to the organization as needed.
- Manage the legal budget and control external spend.
- A qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK, with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in a regional, national, or international commercial law firm and/or in an in-house legal team.
- A minimum of a 2:1 in a bachelor's degree, with good accompanying academic records prior to this.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate a range of commercial contracts.
- The confidence to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage a high workload, with the resilience to work under pressure in a fast-changing commercial environment.
- The ability to balance customer expectations and commercial demands against any legal and regulatory risks.
- An open and transparent approach, able to work in an international environment with exposure to diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- A solid aptitude for leadership and management, accompanied by good project management and conflict skills.
- IT skills in standard Microsoft office packages.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, with ability in other languages welcomed.
