Service Care Solutions is seeking a dedicated Urban Planning Specialist to become a vital part of our Development Management team.
This is a full-time, temporary role that offers flexible working arrangements, with a competitive hourly rate ranging from £25 to £27 Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35).
Role Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage Development Management activities within a designated area or functional team. This includes overseeing pre-application consultations, planning submissions, appeals, and enforcement actions, while engaging in negotiations with developers and stakeholders to secure financial and community benefits through legal agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Area Team Leader to achieve timely and effective planning results that align with the Council's Core Values and meet the demands of Best Value and Comprehensive Performance Assessment.
2. Be accountable to the Area Team Leader for meeting agreed Service outcomes and personal performance targets.
3. Ensure that statutory and legal obligations are fulfilled and communicated in a customer-oriented manner, optimizing the use of available resources.
4. Provide guidance and support to junior team members as necessary.
5. Act as a deputy for the Area Team Leader when required.
6. Represent the Council as a knowledgeable spokesperson on matters related to the specific functional area of responsibility.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in delivering services to clients and being accountable for those services.
- Extensive experience in a variety of development control tasks, with the capability to manage complex applications and projects.
- A relevant qualification in Town Planning or equivalent, supporting membership in the RTPI, or a postgraduate qualification in a related field combined with pertinent experience in development management, demonstrating a commitment to obtaining the necessary qualifications in Town Planning.
- Significant post-qualification experience in Planning, particularly in the Development Control process.
